Your editorial team, finally in one place: introducing the MyType Task Planner

MyType Task Planner for editorial teams

Every newsroom we talk to has the same invisible problem.

The stories are in the CMS. The deadlines are in a spreadsheet. The assignments live in someone’s calendar. The status updates happen on Slack. And somewhere in between all of this — in the friction of switching between tools, chasing updates, and rebuilding context every morning — editorial energy gets lost.

The Task Planner is Atex’s answer to that problem. And it’s available now in MyType

What it is

The Task Planner is a native planning and workflow module built directly inside MyType. No integrations, no exports, no external tools to keep in sync. From the moment a story idea surfaces to the moment it goes live, everything lives in one place — the same place where your journalists are already writing.

Editors can plan the week on a shared calendar, assign articles and social posts to individual team members, track production status at a glance, and create content directly from a task without ever leaving the platform. Writers see exactly what’s on their plate, with deadlines highlighted before they become problems. Social media managers work from their own filtered view, without noise from the rest of the workflow.

It’s not a project management tool bolted onto a CMS. It’s a content planning layer that understands the editorial workflow because it was built for it.

What it looks like in practice

The module opens with a shared Calendar view — daily, weekly, or monthly — where every planned piece of content appears as a card with its title, type, assignee, and status. Drag it to reschedule it. The system will ask for confirmation before touching anything that’s already in review or published

Switch to Kanban and the same content organises itself into columns: Idea, Draft, In Progress, Review, Published. Move a card, change a status. The board is live and reflects the real state of the newsroom without anyone having to update it manually.

The To-Do List view is for the individual: a chronological list of upcoming tasks, filterable to show only your own assignments, with priority flags, imminent deadlines highlighted, and the ability to add personal tasks that only you can see.

The Analytics view gives editors in chief and content managers a real-time read on team workload, content type distribution, task status breakdown, and overdue items — without having to ask anyone what’s happening.

A release built on how we work

The Task Planner was originally planned for release at the end of the year. It’s shipping in Q2.

That acceleration reflects something we’ve been investing in across the whole team: a development culture that embraces new tools and methodologies — including AI-assisted workflows — not to cut corners, but to raise the bar on what we can build and how thoughtfully we can build it. The result is a feature that arrived earlier, but more importantly, arrived right.

The bigger picture

The Task Planner is the latest step in MyType’s evolution toward a fully integrated omnichannel editorial platform — one where every part of the newsroom workflow, from story idea to publication across web, app, newsletter, social, and print, happens inside a single environment.

Reducing tool fragmentation is not a nice-to-have for editorial teams. It’s a direct contributor to content quality, team coordination, and the ability to move at the speed the news cycle demands. Every hour not spent reconciling a spreadsheet with a CMS is an hour available for actual journalism.

The Task Planner is available now as part of MyType. If you’re an existing client and want to activate it, get in touch with your account contact. If you’re not yet a MyType customer and want to see it in action, Request a demo

Introducing MyType Analytics: Smarter Newsroom Analytics for Modern Publishers

At Atex, we’ve always believed that a great editorial platform should do more than help journalists write — it should help them understand. Today, we’re excited to introduce MyType Analytics, a fully integrated analytics module built directly into MyType.  No tab-switching. No third-party dashboards. No waiting for a weekly report from
